Find out moreIf a relative or friend has asked you to help them get to and from East Melbourne Specialist Day Hospital for a procedure, you may be wondering what to expect.
You will need to escort your friend or relative from the hospital following their procedure and ensure yourself or another responsible adult supervises them for the next 24 hours after being discharged.
We will advise the patient of their expected discharge time when they are admitted on the day of surgery.

Written and verbal discharge instructions will be given to the patient and yourself. The patient will need to rest at home for the remainder of the day. It is essential that they do not drive a motor vehicle or motor bike until the day after their admission. If you have any concerns about their recovery after the procedure, please call their doctor immediately.
